Professor Dr. Faridul Alam
Vice Chancellor
I am extremely happy to know that the Public Health Association of Bangladesh (PHAB) is going to organize the Annual Conference-2021and I feel honored to attend its closing session. The theme of the Conference "Health Systems Strengthening: Solutions for tomorrow" seems to be meaningful in context of the present covid-19 pandemic situation. Bangladesh has improved itsprimary health services facilities in rural area and modern services in urban level. These are mostly following the system of colonial era. Public health is not given enough emphasis like that of other developed or devolving countries. Worldwide non communicable diseases are in endemic form, most of countries could not cope with this problem especially country like Bangladesh. Only organized public health measures could combat these problems. I heartily felicitate all members of the PHAB for their participations in the development of Public Health culture and principles as well as in the consolidation of collaborations in pursuit of sound health system. Their collective efforts have contributed to make a massive change over the last decade in the detection; prevention and control of preventable diseases and to raise public awareness on health issues.Keeping in mind Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) is running several specialized programs on Public Health. The biggest faculty of public health in Bangladesh is dedicated for improving academy and research of our members. I also hope it will contribute in “Health Systems Strengthening: Solutions for tomorrow" I strongly believe that the conference would greatly facilitate the participants to generate knowledge and explore new concepts on public health practice and policies leading to eventual promotion of expertise and innovation among the new generation health professionals. I wish a tremendous success of the conference.
