Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, MBBS, DO, MS 

Prof. Ahmed is the honorable Vice Chancellor, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) with 36 years of teaching experience in postgraduate and undergraduate medical institutions in Bangladesh. Prof. Ahmed possess strong leadership capabilities by dint of which was the Chairman of the department of Ophthalmology in BSMMU then appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin). He also served BSMMU as Dean, Faculty of Preventive & Social Medicine and Member of the Syndicate & Academic Council. His contribution in the field of ophthalmology is well recognized both nationally and internationally. During his successful clinical practice, he performed a significant number of different complicated eye surgery in base hospitals as well as tertiary level hospital as a contribution to the prevention of blindness in Bangladesh. His stewardship role in the national eye care program is noteworthy. Prof. Ahmed is an author and co-author of more than 100 publications in different peer- reviewed national and international journals. In addition, he has authored two books on eye diseases published in Bangla. During his lifetime for his outstanding professional work has received many distinguished awards in the country and abroad.
